Our Beliefs
WE BELIEVE THAT GOD CALLS US INTO RELATIONSHIPS.
First Lutheran Community Church is all about relationships. Jesus summed up the entire Scriptures when he told us to love God and love each other. Where some churches emphasize religion, rules, or rituals… we believe the Gospel calls us first and foremost into relationship with one another, which has called on all of us to radically welcome everyone that walks through our doors and lives in our community. You are family here.
WE BELIEVE THAT GOD LOVES.
This is where we start. God made the world out of love. God chose us out of love. God redeems us out of love. God forgives us again and again out love. We believe our Bible and our tradition have left us with the clear indication that God falls on the side of mercy, forgiveness, and love. Grace abounds and we are grateful for it!
WE BELIEVE IN GOD, THREE IN ONE.
We believe in God as revealed in the Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is One, yet chooses to relate to us in three distinct ways. Is God bigger than how we describe God? Of course! But we believe that Jesus died for us and lives for us today, that God created us and calls continually to help in preserving creation, that the Spirit dwells within us and guides us through each day.
